ASADABAD: The Kunar provincial officials said that artillery shelling by Pakistani forces over the past 24 hours has killed two civilians and wounded eight others.
According to a statement from the provincial Directorate of Information and Culture, in the attacks one civilian was martyred and six others were injured in Nari, while another civilian was martyred and two were wounded in a separate incident in Sarkano.
Officials said dozens of long-range artillery rounds were fired into several districts, including Nari, Manogai, Sarkano, Shultan, and the provincial capital Asadabad in the past 24 hours.
The shelling comes amid calls from Pakistani religious scholars to extend the ceasefire between Afghanistan and Pakistan until Eid al-Adha.
