Afghan Forces launch flood rescue operations in Kandahar

KABUL: Afghan forces have launched rescue operations to assist stranded people in floods in Kandahar Province, officials confirmed.

Hafiz Nazir Ahmad Shakeeb, spokesperson for the 205 Al-Badr Army Corps, in a video message said that engineering teams have been deployed with heavy equipment to key flood-affected areas.

According to him, the rescue efforts are being carried out in coordination with local authorities, including the municipality and provincial officials.

According to the country’s meteorological authority, heavy rainfall and flooding have affected at least 16 provinces across Afghanistan.
