KABUL: Some members of the United States Congress have called for the removal of Donald Trump, describing him as a “threat to U.S. and global security.”
Yassamin Ansari and Melanie Stansbury, two Democratic lawmakers, voiced strong criticism of the U.S. president in posts on social media.
Ansari described Trump as “unstable” and called for invoking the Twenty-fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution to remove him from office. Stansbury also labeled Trump a serious threat to both national and international security.
Criticizing reported U.S. strikes on Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, Ansari said the institution is comparable to MIT and has trained many engineers who later contributed to major technology companies in the United States.
“Why are we bombing a university in a city of 10 million people?” she wrote.
The 25th Amendment outlines procedures for replacing a president in cases of death, incapacity, or removal from office.
The criticism reflects growing political pressure on Trump within the United States amid the ongoing conflict with Iran.
