KABUL: The Ministry of Justice says the Joint Committee for Rent Control has decided that raising rents on residential houses is prohibited nationwide, and violators will be subject to legal prosecution.
Under the committee’s decision, the rent standard for houses and residential blocks for the year 1405 will remain the same as that of two years ago (1403), with a maximum permitted increase of 10 percent.
The statement stressed that owners of residential properties and property dealers do not have the right to set rents above this standard.
The Ministry of Justice also said separate inspection committees composed of representatives from member agencies should review all property offices and residential blocks in Kabul province to assess rent practices and identify violators for referral to the relevant authorities for legal action.
