KABUL: Jilles Bertrand, the European Union’s representative for Afghanistan, says European markets remain open to Afghan exports and that Afghan products are well received by consumers across Europe.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, Bertrand made the remarks during a meeting with Mohammad Naeem, the ministry’s administrative deputy.
He reportedly emphasized efforts to further accelerate Afghan access to European markets, noting that Afghan goods enjoy strong demand in the region.
In response, Naeem thanked the European Union for its humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan and stressed the importance of shifting such support toward sustainable development programs. He said this could help create jobs and address key economic challenges facing the population.
The EU envoy’s comments come as a high-level Afghan delegation is currently in talks with Azerbaijani officials in Baku on facilitating Afghan exports to European markets.
