KABUL: The Afghanistan National Football Federation, said in a statement on Friday night that Afghanistan’s national futsal team has climbed seven places in the latest global rankings released by FIFA.
According to a statement, the Afghan futsal team moved from 28th place to 21st in the world rankings.
Meanwhile, Mawlavi Ahmadullah Wasiq, head of Afghanistan’s Olympic, Physical Education and Sports Directorate, wrote on X that the national team secured its new position with 1,194.68 ranking points.
With the latest rise, Afghanistan’s futsal team is now ranked fifth among Asian countries.
The Afghanistan Football Federation described the achievement as “historic,” calling it a sign of Afghan athletes emerging as a growing force in Asian futsal.
The federation added: “Pride of Asia, pride of Afghanistan; through effort, faith, and unity toward the peaks of the world.”
