KABUL: A training aircraft belonging to the Pakistan Air Force crashed in Punjab province on Wednesday following what security sources described as a technical malfunction.
According to Pakistani security officials, the aircraft went down in the Kamarmashani area of Mianwali District during a training mission after experiencing an engine-related technical failure on Wednesday.
Both pilots successfully ejected before the aircraft crashed, officials said.
Videos circulating on social media showed the wreckage engulfed in flames after impact, while local residents gathered at the scene and rushed to assist the pilots.
Pakistani authorities said an investigation had been launched into the incident.
