KABUL: Archaeological researchers have discovered and recovered 84 ancient artifacts during excavations in the Rashki Ghundi area, Mata Khan district of Paktika province, according to Afghanistan’s Ministry of Information and Culture.
The discoveries include architectural remains as well as movable artifacts made from stone, clay, bone, glass, and metal, said the statement, adding that the artifacts date from the first to the fourth century AD and are linked to the Kushan Empire and Kushan-Sasanian periods.
Archaeologists believe the site once functioned as a pottery production center.
The ministry added that after documentation, registration, and cataloguing procedures were completed, the recovered items were handed over to the Paktika Department of Information and Culture, while immovable historical remains were preserved according to standard conservation measures.
