KANDAHAR: Officials of Kandahar say they have prevented the smuggling of 21,068 sheep to Pakistan along the Durand Line in Spin Boldak District.
According to a statement from the Kandahar Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, the animals were seized over the past two months and mugglers allegedly intended to transport them into Pakistan for Eid sacrifices (Qurbani) sales.
The statement added that authorities also stopped another attempt on Thursday to smuggle 500 sheep through Maruf District.
Kandahar officials reiterated that operations to prevent the smuggling of livestock and other goods along the Durand Line are continuing with strict monitoring measures.
