KABUL: Sayed Karim Hashemi, head of Afghanistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Investment, during his visit to Tashkent met with Uzbekistan’s Transport Minister and railway officials to discuss expanding transit cooperation, improving transportation facilities, and addressing challenges faced by Afghan traders.

According to the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, both sides emphasized the development of transit corridors, faster movement of goods, and the provision of greater facilities for Afghan businesses.

The discussions also focused on practical measures to reduce obstacles in exports and imports and strengthen bilateral trade relations.

The chamber noted that Hashemi had earlier met with the head of Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where the two sides discussed economic and commercial cooperation, transit facilitation, and improvements in customs procedures.

Officials said the meetings were aimed at enhancing economic ties between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan and creating better opportunities for the growth of bilateral trade and regional connectivity.
