KABUL: The country’s Ministry of Interior has said in a statement that security forces prevented the smuggling of a quantity of valuable forest timber in Chawkay District of Kunar province.
According to the statement, the timber was being transported illegally in two vehicles when it was intercepted by security personnel.
Officials said one suspect has been arrested in connection with the case and will be referred to judicial organs for further investigations.
With the return of the Islamic Emirate, the cutting and smuggling of forest trees and valuable timber have been banned across the country, and said that violators will be dealt according to the law.
