Trump again calls U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan a ‘shameful retreat’

KABUL: Donald Trump has once again called the U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan as a “shameful retreat,” saying large quantities of American military equipment were left behind during the pullout.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the G7 Summit, Trump said the previous U.S. administration mishandled the withdrawal and argued that the process could have been carried out in a more orderly and gradual manner.
He maintained that if he had overseen the withdrawal, all military equipment, including tents, would have been removed, allowing the United States to leave Afghanistan “with honor and dignity.”
Trump also claimed that the United States might still be able to recover some of the equipment left in Afghanistan, although he acknowledged that much of it has likely deteriorated and that any effort to retrieve it would now be largely symbolic.
The Islamic Emirate has not yet responded to Trump’s latest remarks; however, they have previously dismissed suggestions of reclaiming U.S. military equipment as “imaginary.”
