Over 500 Afghan families return home in a single day

KABUL: The High Commission for Addressing Refugee Issues said in a statement that 517 Afghan refugee families, comprising 2,719 individuals, returned to the country in a single day through the Torkham Border Crossing, Spin Boldak Border Crossing, and the Silk Bridge Border Crossing.

According to the statement, returning families received registration services, transportation assistance, financial aid, healthcare, and public awareness support from various government committees.

The Transport and Relocation Committee assisted 783 families, comprising 4,420 people, in traveling to different provinces across Afghanistan, said the statement, adding that 592 families received cash assistance, while 594 SIM cards with activated service packages were distributed to returning refugees.

The statement also added that 818 families were allocated residential land plots for permanent settlement, bringing the total number of distributed housing plots to 49,363.
