KABUL: The Embassy of Iran in Kabul has announced that during a meeting between Alireza Bigdeli and the leadership of the Afghan Dried Fruit Union, both sides discussed expanding bilateral trade and facilitating the transit of Afghan dried fruit through Iran.
The meeting emphasized the importance of agricultural products and dried fruit as key Afghan exports and highlighted the need to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.
Afghan traders raised concerns about challenges at border crossings and ports, as well as rising transportation costs, calling for measures to resolve these issues and streamline the transit of goods.
Meanwhile, Bigdeli stressed that Iranian traders remain committed to their obligations toward Afghan business partners and reaffirmed Iran’s support for expanding trade cooperation with Afghanistan.
Dried fruit is one of Afghanistan’s leading export commodities, and Iran’s transit corridor plays a vital role in providing these products with access to regional and international markets.
