KABUL: Sergei Shoigu has said that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has fulfilled its commitments in combating narcotics by implementing extensive measures to curb drug trafficking.
According to Russia’s state news agency TASS, Shoigu said the Afghan authorities have succeeded in halting a significant share of the production and export of industrial-scale narcotics.
He stated that the production and trafficking of narcotic drugs from Afghanistan have declined by nearly 90 percent compared with previous levels, attributing the reduction to sustained anti-drug enforcement efforts.
Shoigu welcomed the reported progress, describing the decline in drug production and trafficking as an important achievement for both regional and global security.
