Nearly 350 Afghan migrants released from Pakistani prisons and returned home

KABUL: The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation has said that 344 Afghan migrants who had been detained in various prisons across Pakistan were released and returned to Afghanistan during the past week.

According to the ministry, the returnees included both families and individual migrants who had been arrested due to issues related to residency and legal documentation and had spent varying periods in detention in Pakistan.

232 of the released migrants re-entered Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing, while another 112 returned via Spin Boldak, said the ministry, adding that after receiving necessary assistance and support services, they were transported to their home provinces.

The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation also called on international organizations to continue supporting Afghan migrants, facilitate their voluntary return, and help provide appropriate humanitarian and security conditions for returnees reintegrating into their communities.
