Shabashak mines produce up to 300 tons of coal daily, official

KABUL: The General Directorate of State-Owned Enterprises has said that the Shabashak coal mines produce between 200 and 300 tons of coal per day, in accordance with technical standards and quality requirements.

In a statement published on its X account on Tuesday, the directorate said that the Shabashak mines operate under the state-owned Northern Coal Company, and other mining areas under the company’s jurisdiction include Shakol, Jaihun, and Qarmal.

According to the statement, the coal extracted from these mines has a calorific value ranging from 6,000 to 6,500 kilocalories, indicating a high-quality energy resource.

The directorate added that the coal produced from these mines, due to its high heating value and long burn time, plays an important role in meeting market demand and supporting the country’s economic growth through a stable, reliable supply.
