Bennett calls for protection of civilians and accountability after Pakistan’s deadly strikes

KABUL: Richard Bennett, the United Nations Human Rights Council’s Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan, has expressed concern following the recent Pakistani military strikes on the Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar provinces.
Referring to reports of civilian casualties, including women and children, Bennett extended his condolences to the families of those martyred and to all those affected by the attacks.
The UN Special Rapporteur called on all parties to exercise restraint, protect civilians, and comply with international humanitarian law. He also stressed the importance of ensuring accountability for the incident.
