KABUL: A total of 797,482 metric tons of petroleum products, non-petroleum goods, and other commodities were imported and exported through the country’s railway network during the month of Jawza (May–June) of the current solar year.
According to Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works, 538,889 metric tons were transported through the Hairatan port, 75,722 metric tons through Aqina, 77,008 metric tons through Torghundi, and 105,863 metric tons via the Khaf-Herat railway line.
Haqshenas added that exports totaling 2,517 metric tons were also carried out during the same period. The ministry stated that the increase in railway transportation and exports plays a significant role in creating employment opportunities, boosting national revenues, and supporting economic growth in Afghanistan
