KABUL: Defense Minister Mawlavi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, during his trip to the country’s northern zone, visited the 217 Omari Army Corps to assess the corps’ security, administrative, and military situation.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense, Mujahid was accompanied by Mullah Rahmatullah Mohammad Aka, commander of the 209 Al-Fath Army Corps.
During the visit, the defense minister met with the commander of the 217 Omari Army Corps, Mullah Sharafuddin Taqi, the corps’ deputy commander, Mullah Abdul Karim Nafiz, brigade commanders, and a number of military personnel.
The ministry said Mujahid listened to reports presented by the officials and issued directives aimed at improving administrative performance, strengthening professional coordination, and enhancing the effective execution of military duties.
Following his visit, the Mawlavi Mujahid also met with a number of disabled military personnel in Kunduz province and heard their concerns and requests, and presented them with financial assistance in recognition of their service and as a gesture of support.
