KABUL: The country’s Ministry of Interior Affairs said in a statement that the ministry’s personnel discovered and seized an ammunition depot during an intelligence operation in the Nari China area of Dand Patan district, Paktia province.
According to the statement, during the operation, 8,000
MP bullets, 12 hand grenades, and 500 DShK heavy machine-gun bullets were seized.
The statement said preliminary investigations indicate that the ammunition had been concealed by smugglers for transfer into Pakistan but was intercepted by security forces before it could be moved.
No arrests have been made so far. However, the ministry said the suspects have been identified and will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law once the investigation is completed.
