Da Afghanistan Bank Deputy Governor holds talks with ECGF on expanding financial cooperation

KABUL: Sediqullah Khalid, First Deputy Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank, met with Dirk Joseph Thyssen, Deputy Chief Executive of the Economic Credit Guarantee Facility (ECGF), and his accompanying delegation to discuss expanding financial cooperation and support for Afghanistan’s banking sector.
According to a statement issued by the central bank, the meeting focused on improving access to credit guarantees for small-scale financing, securing grant assistance, and strengthening technical cooperation with financial institutions operating in Afghanistan.
Khalid said Da Afghanistan Bank remains committed to creating a transparent, standardized, and enabling environment for the growth of the country’s financial and banking sector, to improve access to financing for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
He also called on ECGF representatives to provide financing services equally across all regions of Afghanistan and to work with all relevant institutions without discrimination.
Meanwhile, ECGF representatives requested greater facilitation from Da Afghanistan Bank to expand financing for micro, small, and medium-sized businesses, strengthen technical cooperation with financial and banking institutions, implement joint programs, and sign bilateral agreements to enhance cooperation between the two sides further.
