KABUL: The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that one American soldier was killed and another injured while attempting to dispose of unexploded ordnance from an Iranian attack drone in northern Iraq.
According to CENTCOM, the incident occurred on July 18. With this latest casualty, the number of U.S. service members killed in recent incidents in Iraq and Jordan has risen to three.
The U.S. military said the identity of the fallen soldier will not be released until his family has been formally notified.
