KANDAHAR: The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate has emphasized the role of religious scholars (ulama) in preserving and promoting Islamic teachings during a meeting with clerics from Kandahar’s districts and urban religious circles.
According to Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, the meeting was attended by religious scholars, community elders, and senior Islamic Emirate officials at the Kandahar governor’s office.
Fitrat said the leader spoke about strengthening the Islamic system, the responsibility of religious scholars in guiding society, and the implementation of Islamic law. He stressed the importance of explaining Islamic teachings, preventing wrongdoing, promoting unity, preserving social cohesion, and cooperating with the Islamic system.
The statement added that the leader also urged scholars to devote greater efforts to educating students, raising public awareness about official decrees and regulations, and fostering a spirit of obedience and unity within society.
According to the statement, participants also renewed their pledge of allegiance to the Amir al-Mu’minin and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the Islamic system.
