KABUL: Mawlavi Hamdullah Zahid, Deputy Minister of Food and Drug of the Ministry of Public Health, and his accompanying delegation during his visit to Tashkent met with officials from Uzbekistan’s health sector.
According to Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Health, the talks were held with Ilhamjon Umarzakov, Deputy Minister of Health of Uzbekistan, to discuss expanding cooperation in the areas of health, medicines, and medical products. Both sides discussed exchanging specialized experiences, cooperation in treating Afghan patients (especially for diseases such as cancer and heart conditions), and strengthening technical ties between the two countries.
The ministry added that Zahid also met separately with Abdullah Azizov, head of Uzbekistan’s Office for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry and Medical Equipment, where they discussed strengthening capacity and training technical staff, developing the pharmaceutical industry between the two countries, improving quality-control laboratories, and cooperating in laboratory equipment.
The Deputy Minister of Food and Drug said that cooperation will play an important role in enhancing technical capacities, improving medicine-industry development, upgrading the quality of health services, and further strengthening relations between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Uzbek officials stated their country is ready to expand comprehensive cooperation in health, pharmaceuticals, and medical products, and emphasized continued collaboration.
