KABUL: The Assembly of States Parties to the International Criminal Court (ICC) has voted to remove Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan over allegations of sexual misconduct.
According to Al Jazeera, Khan’s legal team described the decision as politically motivated.
The allegations stem from claims made by a woman identified as Sara, who accused Khan of sexually assaulting her on multiple occasions without her consent. Khan and his lawyers have denied the accusations and said that there is insufficient evidence to substantiate the claims.
The ICC came under increased pressure from the United States and Israel after Khan sought arrest warrants in 2024 for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in connection with the Gaza conflict.
