15 tons of expired medicines eliminated in Faryab

KABUL: The Ministry of Public Health says 15 tons of expired medicines have been destroyed in Faryab province in the presence of local health officials.

In a statement, the ministry said the shipment contained 948 types of medicines that had been collected over the past two years from Faryab’s provincial capital and its districts.

According to the ministry, the medicines were destroyed to protect public health and prevent expired and substandard medicines from being supplied to the market.

Health officials emphasized that collecting and destroying expired and substandard medicines is part of ongoing efforts to ensure public health safety and prevent potential harm caused by the use of such medicines.
