External pressure will not divert Afghanistan from its path, FM Muttaqi

KABUL: Foreign Minister Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi says the country will not succumb to political, economic, or other forms of external pressure and seeks relations with the international community based on mutual respect and a balanced foreign policy.

Speaking at a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Defense to mark the 107th anniversary of Afghanistan’s Independence, Muttaqi said that the more pressure is placed on Afghanistan, the more firmly the country will continue on its current path.

He added that countries that have engaged with Afghanistan have benefited from such engagement.

Muttaqi also stressed the importance of maintaining national security and protecting Afghanistan’s borders, saying Afghan security forces have thwarted attempts by opponents to create insecurity before they could be carried out.

He warned that insecurity in one country can affect the security of the entire region and emphasized the importance of regional security cooperation.
