Islamic Emirate: Afghanistan’s Independence achieved through Afghans’ struggles and sacrifices

KABUL: The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has said that the country’s independence was achieved through the struggle, sacrifices and efforts of Afghans.

In a statement marking the 107th anniversary of Afghanistan’s independence, the Islamic Emirate said Afghans forced the British Empire 107 years ago to recognize Afghanistan’s full independence and return control over the country’s foreign policy to Afghans following a major armed struggle.

The statement described the achievement as the result of the sacrifices and struggle of Afghan fighters. It also referred to Afghanistan’s wars against the Soviet Union and the United States, saying Afghans had achieved victories in conflicts with three major global powers over the course of a century.

According to the statement, divine support, along with the determination and resolve of the Afghan people, were key factors behind these victories.

The Islamic Emirate called on young people and future generations to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors and firmly stand against any form of invasion or occupation.

Afghanistan’s Independence Day is being marked four days after the Islamic Emirate Victory Day also commemorated as the country’s independence from the U.S. occupation.
