Afghanistan’s police law published in official gazette after Leader’s approval

KABUL: The Ministry of Justice of the Islamic Emirate said that the Police Law has been published in the official gazette following its approval by the Islamic Emirate’s leader.

According to a statement from the ministry, the law consists of a preamble, two chapters, five sections and 53 articles, with the Ministry of Interior responsible for its implementation.

The law outlines the duties and authorities of the police in areas including maintaining security, protecting borders, traffic management, prisons, combating narcotics, kidnapping and human trafficking.

It also sets out procedures regarding the identification of individuals, summons and arrest, detention of suspects, searches and the use of equipment and other means by police officers.
