KABUL: The country’s security forces in Jawzjan and Kunduz provinces have arrested nine people in connection with drug trafficking, drug production and the manufacture of alcoholic beverages.
Jawzjan’s police command said security forces discovered and dismantled an alcohol production facility in the provincial capital, Sheberghan, and arrested two people, including a woman, in connection with the case.
Meanwhile, Kunduz police said seven people were arrested in Chahar Dara district on charges of trafficking 484 kilograms of opium.
According to local officials, the suspects allegedly intended to transport the drugs from Badakhshan to other provinces.
Authorities said the detainees will be handed over to judicial and legal institutions after preliminary investigations.
