KABUL: Afghanistan has been granted the right to hold the rotating presidency of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) following a decision at the council’s annual meeting.
The ACC said that, with the agreement of its member countries, the Afghanistan Cricket Board has been added to the list of full-member boards eligible to lead the council on a rotating basis.
Previously, the ACC presidency rotated among India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Under the new decision, Afghanistan will also be included in the rotation.
The ACC annual meeting was held on August 22 in Bangkok, Thailand, with representatives of member countries in attendance.
The meeting also approved the council’s vice president, new executive committee members, and the structure of various committees.
The ACC said the decisions were aimed at ensuring broader representation among member countries and strengthening the growth and development of cricket across Asia.
