Coal mining contract signed for “Shor Taq” mine in Faryab

KABUL: Afghanistan’s Ministry of Mines and Petroleum said in a statement that a contract for the extraction of coal from the Shor Taq area in Khwaja Sabz Posh district of Faryab province has been signed with Faryab Khatam al-Anbiya Company.
According to the statement, Minister of Mines and Petroleum Mullah Hedayatullah Badri said the mine covers approximately one square kilometre and the contracting company will pay a 1,000-Afghani royalty and invest $776,500 in the project.
Badri said the mining project will also include social services and create employment opportunities for a significant number of local residents.
