KABUL: The Ministry of Public Health said that the ministry’s inspection personnel in the country’s northern Balkh province have inspected 207 private health facilities as part of an ongoing monitoring campaign.
According to the ministry, the inspections resulted in the closure of 15 pharmacies, 10 wholesale medicine centers, four hospitals, 43 health centers, 12 laboratories, two X-ray centers, nine outpatient (OPD) clinics and six traditional medicine centers for violating health laws and regulations.
The ministry also said 159 types of expired and substandard medicines were confiscated during the inspections and transferred to a designated location for disposal.
Meanwhile, health officials in Nangarhar province reported the discovery and seizure of 450 kilograms of expired and substandard medicines in Jalalabad.
Authorities said a pharmaceutical company involved in the production and distribution of medicines was also sealed following the inspection.
