KABUL: Ronald Neumann, a former U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan, says Washington may reopen its embassy in Kabul.
Speaking to i24NEWS, Neumann said that despite big differences between the United States and the Islamic Emirate, Washington has practical reasons to engage with Kabul and that relations between the two sides could gradually expand.
He stressed that any new phase in U.S.-Afghanistan relations should proceed “step by step” and be based on concrete and practical actions.
Neumann served as the U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan from 2005 to 2007.
