Nangarhar Talc mine extraction contract signed for nearly $15 million

KABUL: The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has announced the signing of a contract for the extraction of the “First Block of the Talc Mine” in the Kudkhilo area of Shirzad district in Nangarhar province, valued at nearly $15 million.
The 30-year contract was signed between Mullah Hedayatullah Badri, Minister of Mines and Petroleum, and Nabi Afghan Company.
According to a statement from the ministry, the mine covers an area of 6.988284 square kilometers, while the contracting company will spend $900,000 on social development projects.
The company will also pay the Islamic Emirate a royalty of 1,970 Afghanis for every metric ton of talc extracted.
