KABUL: Mawlavi Ahmad Jan Bilal, Director General of Afghanistan’s State-Owned Companies, and Iran’s Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi, have discussed expanding cooperation in the energy sector.
The state-owned companies’ office said the meeting covered cooperation in electricity and energy, the supply of clean drinking water, and the construction of wastewater treatment facilities.
Iran’s energy minister said his country was ready to provide the necessary facilities to train Afghan technical personnel and strengthen their professional and technical capacities.
Aliabadi also said Iran was prepared to supply up to 2,000 megawatts of electricity to Afghanistan to help meet the country’s electricity needs.
The two sides also emphasized the importance of expanding energy cooperation, strengthening technical capacities and implementing joint projects between Afghanistan and Iran.
