KABUL: Qatar has called on the international community not to remove Afghanistan from its agenda and to increase diplomatic efforts and humanitarian assistance to address the challenges facing the Afghan people.
Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Khulaifi, Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, made the remarks at a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Contact Group on Afghanistan.
“OIC member states should continue joint efforts, sincere dialogue and support for Afghanistan,” he said.
Al-Khulaifi also stressed the importance of continuing the UN-led Doha Process, saying Qatar supports constructive engagement between the Afghan government and the international community.
He added that Qatar would continue providing humanitarian and development assistance to Afghanistan, with particular attention to education and employment opportunities for young people and girls.
