KABUL: Zalmay Khalilzad, the former U.S. special representative for Afghanistan reconciliation, says Pakistan’s actions over the past 30 years have shown a significant gap between its statements and its conduct regarding support for armed groups.
In a post on X, Khalilzad said the “double game” must end and that the time has come to open a new chapter.
He added that Afghanistan and Pakistan need economic cooperation and development, and said Pakistan should agree not to allow its territory to be used to threaten the security of others.
Khalilzad has made similar calls for improved relations and an agreement between Afghanistan and Pakistan to ensure that neither country’s territory is used to threaten the other.
