KABUL: Afghanistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Investment’s executive board has approved a proposal to establish a specialized charity hospital for cancer patients.
According to the chamber, the hospital will initially have a capacity of 100 beds and will provide diagnostic and treatment services for cancer patients, particularly those who are poor and in need.
The executive board said it conducted a comprehensive review of the proposal before expressing its full support and approving the project by an overwhelming majority.
According to the chamber, a professional and authorized committee will also be established to assess the hospital’s land, plans and design, medical equipment, specialized departments, costs and funding sources, private-sector participation, and mechanisms for transparent and sustainable management.
The chamber’s leadership said the project would not belong to a single institution or individual but would be implemented through joint cooperation among Afghan traders, investors, charitable organizations and the public.
