KABUL: Qatar’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, has stressed the need for continued international engagement with Afghanistan and expanded practical cooperation with the country.
Speaking at a meeting of the Afghanistan Coordination Group, Al Misnad said Afghanistan’s future should be determined through an inclusive, Afghan-led political process that respects the country’s national sovereignty and independence.
She added that Qatar had provided or pledged nearly $150 million over the past decade to support humanitarian assistance and development projects in Afghanistan.
Al Misnad also called for greater coordination among international organisations to ensure that the humanitarian needs of the Afghan people are addressed in a timely manner.
