KABUL: Rabab Fatima, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), has made her first visit to Nangarhar province, the mission announced.
During the visit, Fatima met with local officials, women’s representatives, community elders, businesspeople, returnees and representatives of UN agencies in the province to discuss local needs.
UNAMA said the UN special representative reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to continuing its support for Afghanistan during the meetings.
The visit comes as the United Nations continues to stress the need to address humanitarian needs and support the people of Afghanistan.
