KABUL: A U.S. official told the Associated Press that they have conducted strikes against several Iranian military targets in the Strait of Hormuz.
The official said the strikes targeted Iranian military facilities whose use of surface-to-air missiles had threatened U.S. military assets.
Meanwhile, Iranian state television reported hearing explosions on Qeshm Island, near the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the AP, the military action appeared limited and was not considered a sign of a renewed escalation into a wider conflict in the region.
