KABUL: The Ministry of Public Works has announced that a total of 4,888,268 metric tons of commercial goods were transported through Afghanistan’s four land-based trade routes during the first six months of the solar year 1405.

According to the ministry, imported goods transported through these routes included fuel, liquefied gas, wheat, flour, cooking oil, and other food and construction materials.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan also exported various domestically produced goods to regional markets, including dried fruits, carbonated beverages, mineral stones, cotton, and other locally manufactured products.

The ministry’s figures show a significant increase compared with the same period last year. During the first six months of 1404, a total of 2,182,312 metric tons of commercial goods were transported through the same four routes.

According to the figures, the volume of commercial goods transported during the first six months of 1405 more than doubled compared with the corresponding period in 1404, reflecting a substantial increase in trade and transportation activities through the country’s land-based routes.
