KABUL: The Turkish parliament has delayed the review of a trilateral defense agreement between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan.
According to reports, several Turkish lawmakers have opposed the agreement, warning that accepting new, unclear military commitments could draw the country into conflicts and tensions with other nations.
The lawmakers have called for clarification regarding the scope of the pact’s military obligations, stressing that Türkiye’s armed forces should not become involved in wars involving other countries.
The trilateral defense agreement between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan was signed on August 7, 2026. Under its terms, any armed attack against one member country is considered an attack against all three members.
