U.S. midterm results could slow Trump’s conservative judicial appointments

KABUL: A potential Republican loss of their Senate majority in the U.S. midterm elections could hinder President Donald Trump’s efforts to accelerate the appointment of conservative judges.

According to Reuters, Republicans have used their Senate majority to facilitate the confirmation of numerous conservative judges, seeking to reshape the composition of the U.S. federal judiciary.

The report added that since returning to the White House, Trump has secured Senate confirmation for 56 new lifetime judicial appointments with Republican support.

Trump also appointed 234 judges to various federal courts across the United States during his first four-year presidential term.
