Work on development project worth around 16 million Afghanis begins in Khost

KABUL: The construction work on a welfare development project worth 16 million Afghanis (some 225,000, US dollars) has begun in Khost province, the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development told in a statement to Radio Omid today.
According to the statement, the project includes two parts: the construction of a 226-meter retaining wall and a 311-meter agricultural irrigation channel and will be implemented in the Turkanai area of Alishero district and the Tarezi area of Khost province, said the statement.
Once completed, the project is expected to facilitate the irrigation of hundreds of acres of agricultural land and protect these lands from flooding.
Also, during the implementation of the project, job opportunities will be created for dozens of people.
