New agriculture laboratory inaugurated in Kandahar

KANDAHAR: For the first time, a fully equipped laboratory worth $250,000 has been built by the private sector and put into use for agricultural products in Kandahar province, said local officials.
Officials from the Kandahar Department of Agriculture stated that previously, traders faced challenges in exporting products to foreign countries, but with the establishment of this laboratory, these issues are expected to be resolved.
The laboratory is designed for the testing of dry and fresh fruits and vegetables, ensuring that these products are ready for sale in international markets.
National trader Saif Rahman claims that in the past, Afghan fruits were sold under the names of other countries, but now they will be exported under Afghanistan’s name.
According to officials, one of the laboratory’s benefits is that it has a unique barcode, which will help identify standards in global markets.
