KABUL: The Afghan athletes have successfully secured third place at the International Kuresh Championships held in Turkmenistan.
The General Directorate of the National Olympic Committee, Physical Education, and Sports said on Wednesday night that Afghan wrestlers concluded their participation in the international wrestling competitions in the “Gorash” style with five bronze medals and one silver medal.
The tournament, hosted in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, featured athletes from fourteen countries.
A twelve-member team represented Afghanistan in the competition.
Turkmenistan’s athletes took first place, while Kyrgyzstan claimed second place.
The international wrestling competitions in the “Gorash” and “Alash” styles occurred from April 2 to April 5.
It is expected that six more Afghan wrestlers will compete in the “Alash” style over the next two days.
