Death of 4 Journalists in Iran; International Federation of Journalists accuses Israel of committing ‘war crimes’

KABUL: Following the deaths of four journalists and media staff in direct airstrikes by the Israeli regime in Iran, the International Federation of Journalists has accused Israel of committing “war crimes.”

According to a statement from the federation on Tuesday night, based on international law, journalists are considered civilians, and intentional attacks against them constitute “war crimes.”

The statement notes that on June 13, Fereshteh Bagheri, a staff member of the “Defa Pars” news agency and daughter of Major General Mohammad Bagheri, was killed, on June 15, freelance cartoonist Saleh Birami from “Andisheh Pouya” magazine was also killed, followed by the deaths of Nima Rajabpour, an editor at the news network, and Masoumeh Azimi, a staff member of the Iranian broadcasting network, on June 16 during the Israeli airstrikes.

The International Federation of Journalists expressed its mourning over the deaths of these Iranian journalists.

This comes amid accusations that Israel has previously violated Iran’s “national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and international laws” through its attacks.
